Grass is Always Greener

When I was little, I really wanted curly hair.  I prayed for it and even went as far as eating my most detested food (tomatoes at the time) because a relative told me that if I ate them, it would make my hair curly.

As an adult, my hair got super curly.  And I spent years straightening it every time I washed it and getting treatments to keep it straight.  About a year ago I decided to just embrace my natural curls and gave up on straightening it all the time.

I sent the below picture to my sister last week while I was in some hot and humid weather irritated that it was making my hair even bigger than normal.

The next day while at the gym, a girl came up to me and said “You have the prettiest hair, I wish I had curly hair like yours!”

It made me think about all the wishing and hoping I had done wanting my hair curly and now how much I long for straight, smooth hair.  The grass is always greener.  We always want what we don’t have.

What if we started changing our perspective - wanting what we DO have.  Because if we want everything we have then we have everything we want.

Remember that everything you have now was once a wish that you longed for.  Come back to being grateful for it all.

XO

Adrienne
